Eastside Athletic 4-2 Romford Town Flyers
Two down, then a Kai O’Hare hat-trick sees Eastside home for a first win.
Eastside Athletic picked up their first win as a club on Sunday, coming from two goals down to beat Romford Town Flyers 4-2.
Travelling squad: Francis Hastings (GK), Tobi Omotosho, Corey Sears, Prince Bansende, Kai O’Hare, Bruno Fonseca, Alfie Mason (C), Logan Hossack, Billy Longford, Owen Oakford, Mason Talbot, Bobby Goodall, Finley Morrison, Alfie Stacey, Danny Fenn, Mason Active, plus three trialists.
It didn’t start well. Romford’s trialist forward opened the scoring early, latching onto a perfectly weighted ball across the box after gaps opened up in the Eastside defence, before one of their centre-backs powered a header home from a corner to make it 2-0.
But changes made by Player/Manager Bailey Hossack during the hydration break turned the game on its head. Left-back Danny Fenn pulled one back just before half-time with a driving run from the left, cutting into the box and finishing at the near post — his first for the club.
Eastside were level soon after through Kai O’Hare, who beat the Romford keeper from outside the box to make it 2-2 at the break.
The second half belonged to O’Hare. Two more calm, composed finishes completed his hat-trick and turned the game around, sealing Eastside’s first ever win. Captain Alfie Mason thought he’d added a fifth, but the goal was chalked off for a foul in the build-up.
A brilliant response after going behind early, and a first taste of victory for this Eastside squad.
